Week 37
August 31,
2015
For some of you,
last week I forgot to send you the email that said that I am training. :) Surprise!!!
My companion is from Holiday, SLC, Utah. She is 19, and she is almost taller than
me... ha-ha...
Tuesday: I
went to Trujillo to have my training on how to be a trainer. Once that meeting
was over, we waited until the new people entered the building to go down the
stairs. :) That wait was so LOOONNNGGG!!!! AH! I knew that I was going to get a
North American, but it was stressful because the other sisters were freaking
out, so I started to freak out a little. I will not lie, I was really nervous.
Our names were the last to get called for the sister, so I had some time to
look her over and smile at her before our names were called. *The new
missionaries sit on one side of the chapel, and the trainers on the other side.
One by one they call names, and the new companionship joins together in the
middle isle, and give a big hug, smile for a photo, and then sits together. (this
is how the meeting is for the new missionaries)* Then after, we took some
pictures and then grabbed her bags. We were the only sisters going to Chimbote,
and the elders took the bus before us... so we were traveling alone at night...
I was praying really hard that nothing bad was going to happen, and that no one
was going to do anything bad to us... because we are both North Americans and
all. But we got to our room at 10pm, and we got to eat chicken and fries for
dinner.
Wednesday: District
meeting. My companion didn’t understand a thing that was being said, and looked
really confused. It was funny because I remember my first meeting.
Thursday: We
did our weekly planning. She took alot of notes and I think she learned alot. That
afternoon we had a great lesson, and then Ward council. Ward council was
terrible, and I was happy that she couldn’t understand because it was a pointless
meeting. I tried really hard not to freak-out, but I usually get really
stressed during this meeting, so I had to take a few deep breaths and turn off
my ears.
Friday:
Friday we taught no one, and we walked alot! We learned that missionary work isn’t
just teaching lessons, it’s a lot of looking and finding people. :)
Saturday:
Our agenda was full of new people to contact and find. I of course had to do
all the talking... which was terrible because I don’t like contacting....
because I never know what to say... and sometimes it’s just nerve racking...
Sunday: She
gave her testimony in sacrament meeting; with perfect Spanish... it was a true testament
that the gift of tongues is real. We had been praying for this time, that she
would know what to say and say it calmly... and it was AMAZING! Also this Sunday
we took a less active to church with us... and she told us that she felt
amazing taking the Sacrament again. I was happy with our week.
Something
that I have started to do every night... thanks to my comp, is write in my
journal every night.... She writes everything down... she journals in all of
her free time. She said that in the MTC she finish one whole journal... WOW!!! It’s
amazing. I enjoy writing my feeling down, and I think that this new little
habit that we have will help me during her training.
So far all
is well. This week we start really working on her learning the language, so
next week I will have alot more to tell you all! Just know that I am happy, and
enjoying training! I like being in charge, and finding the way to work with my
new companion in the way that the Lord wants...
LOVE YOU
ALL!!
