WEEK 41: Week 5 Of Training

Sept 28, 2015

This week flew past my face! Holy cow! I cannot believe all that happened and flew!!!! FLEW BY!
Monday. I went to Trujillo in the night time. I stayed in a huge apartment, and slept on a bunkbed... nothing really exciting happened this day! :)
Tuesday. I spent all day in Trujillo. I went to Trujillo to do some kind of paperwork... I didn’t really understand what I was doing, but I signed a paper to permit an elder to do all my legal papers and what not to go home. :) Then after that I went to see a doctor because I have something wrong with my skin. But the doctor said I wasn’t going to die, and that it’s a reaction that my skin has for the humidity... but It will go away, so all it well! :) After seeing the doctor, I snuck over to see President and Sister Marler. Oh how I have missed them! And they missed me. President said that he was happy to see my smiling face smiling... so he knew that I was doing good, and all was well! He told me that he will be waiting to see me at the airport to give me a HUGE goodbye huge from him. Oh how trunky that made me! They are like my second parents! I know that day will be hard to say goodbye to them! :/
Wednesday. We had our district meeting, and learned about the importance of families. We try and find families, because they are more likely to accept, progress, and get baptized in the gospel when they do everything together. We have a goal to find a family every week! :)
Thursday. Thursday I woke up sick. We did our weekly planning, and then I called the doctor to get meds, and to see if there was a possibility that I could sleep. I got permission, and slept until 4 in the afternoon. When I woke up I felt so much better! But I also am taking alot of pills to help me get better quickly, and still be able to be a missionary.:) But I just have a little cough now. So I am good.
Saturday. WOMENS CONFERENCE!!! And I got to watch the last hour in English. It was amazing! I loved the talk from Elder Uchtdorf. AH. It made me so excited and happy for this following weekend! AHAHA!!! :)
Sunday. Well it was a Sunday. WE visited people and members.
This week the mission work was slow. We didn’t teach that many people, and all the appointments that we had fell through. I know this week we will be knocking on doors, and talking to alot of people! :)
Today for p day, we are making TACOS!!!! Homemade tacos with a family of members! :) It will be an experiment, because they don’t have quit all the ingredients that we need, but I feel like playing "mom", and substituting things in! Hopefully it works out, and tastes good because we have to feed 30 people in all! :) I’ll make sure to take alot of pictures and send them next week!
Life is good, and I keep smiling! :) I’m enjoying my time with hna. Rowley. She is doing so well, and I sometimes feel like she is training me, because she is amazing. I am learning alot of good things from her about life, and also SLC and BYU!. She has a goal to convince me to go to BYU, but I don’t think that will ever happen. It’s my Team, but I will never go there! :)
The sun is coming out, and everyone is talking about the weather... saying that a Huge storm is coming in November... :) We will see! People are crazy about the weather here, and LOVE to talk about it!:)
I LOVE PERÚ!!!!! le AMO Perú! It’s a beautiful place. I will for sure come back soon! :)
I love you all! Thank you for everything! :)

WEEK 40: Week 4 Of Training

Sept 21, 2015

Okay, I am super happy this week! This week seems like it went by really fast, but I can tell that it was hard because my body is starting to ache. Just little pains here and there, but I like it. Sometimes the days go by and I feel like I have just been visiting friends. The people are so nice, and I know that the Lord is guiding me and my companion because it’s easy to talk to these people! :) I love starting the little truths that I know are true. That God lives, I am a child of God. He hears and answers my prayers. And that He is really waiting for me on the other side of the veil... cheering me on in my life. I know that this gospel is TRUE, and this week it was alot easier to share it.
I truly had some bonding moments with my companion this week! And now I can’t picture my mission without her. :) I have learned so many things from her already, and I am excited for the short time that we will have together. I am honestly afraid that in the next two months, I will get transferred. After her training... I will leave Garatea, and her to "die" in another area. :( Time is flying by, and the Lord is blessing me right now with some good times!
Last week we found a fisherman. The next visit we met his 14 yr. old daughter. And this Sunday, they came to the first hour of church! They are the first people that I have personally found that have actually gone to church! :) Yesterday I was so happy. We met with them in their house in the afternoon and they loved the meeting. And they love this church. They know that it is different, and they want to know why. :) They are doing great! :) His daughter has a baptism date for the next month, and we are hoping that we can get them both baptized on the same date. It would be a dream come true, and an amazing gift for Heavenly Father. Please pray for them. They are amazing!
This week I asked my companion why I had so many split ends in my hair if I don’t have a blow dryer or a straightener to damage my hair... she responded... The sand..... I honestly started laughing... but I don’t really know if sand can do that kind of thing.
A few weeks ago we started singing to people to get them to talk to us. We go up to a door, and ask them if we can sing. And then after we share a little about the message that we have, and walk in the door, or set another appointment to come back. With one of these people, we found a teenager... at the time we thought she was 18... The following week when we came back we taught her mom and aunt... WHO ARE MEMBERS, but less actives.... It was amazing! And the teen is so cute, and I think that we can get the mom active again, and baptize her daughter! :)
My package came from mom this week! And I held off to eat the Reese’s bar... today I opened it, and I think that I will finish it tomorrow! :) I love it! It’s so good! :)

Everything is alot better. I have really tried to think about how my training was, and help my comp have a better time. I am trying to teach her everything that I know, and help her grow in all that she is doing! :) Life is good. I am happy, and laughing more than ever. Everyone in our area knows us as the happy laughing, singing sisters! :) And I love it!!!! :) We know alot of people, and in every corner there are people that wave at us! :)
Thank you for everything that you are doing, and all the letters that you send. I love you all....

Eating Cheesecake for my birthday!
PS. this week I had a dream that I came home and gave EVERY single one of you a hug. :) It was a nice dream. And I am looking forward to this day. But I am not in any means wishing that it comes sooner. I want to see you all. I can’t wait for Christmas time to skype and get to see how everyone is growing!
I really can’t believe how time is flying! Know that you are always in my heart, and prayers.

I’m trying to be a good missionary and represent the family name with honor!

WEEK 39: Week 3 Of Training

WEEK 39

Sept 14, 2015

Hello family and friends! I love you all very much! I am very grateful for all the letter that I have gotten to read this day! I love Mondays because I can feel the love from home through a computer screen. :)
This week we knocked on doors and sang to people... and it worked. We found 7 new people to teach, and they want to hear more... :) Life is hard, but good as a missionary right now. :)
I’m going to be honest, this week has been hard. Training is harder than I thought... and I have learned alot this week! I have forgotten what it really was like to be a new missionary. There have been alot of  times when I have thought that my companion isn’t a new missionary, and that I can trust her with a things... and then the lessons burn and die... and its then when I remember that I need to help her learn, and that maybe right now she isn’t ready to do these kinds of things... I missing doing ping-pong(taking turns talking) with my companion.... but I have also realized what I have learned this week. So I am very grateful for that. I just forget that she is new, because her Spanish is really well, and then I feel bad because nothing went well.... so I have goals to get better this week!:) I’m praying and hoping that, lesson wise, it will be a better week!
This week we have a multi zone conference, and I am excited! :) I can’t wait to learn and grow.
This week was an okay week. I walked alot, looking for people knocking on doors, and now my feet hurt.. I have learned from my comp, to do exercises every morning... to be obedient, and so far I’ve been more tired. But I know that that blessing will come in the future! :) So I will keep waiting for them!
I am happy and proud to say that I am in Perú serving the Lord. I know that this is his work, and that I am an instrument in his hands.
Wow! This hour flies! I wish that I could have more time! But until next week! :) I love you all! Thank you for everything. Next week I will have pictures too! :)
I LOVE YOU!!!! Les AMO!

Ps. I’m sorry that this is short!

WEEK 38: Week 2 Of Training PHOTOS

Sept 7, 2015

First and foremost, thank you for your letters for my birthday and everything! I honestly didn’t think I was going to have time to write you all this week. :)
Everyone asked to know more about my companion. Her name is Hermana Rowley. She is from SLC, Utah. She comes from a family of 4. She is the 3rd child in her family, and is the first of her siblings to go on a mission. She studied at BYU this past year. We graduated the same year, and she plays lacrosse. She is the same height as me and she is a GREAT person. The first week, was a little awkward. She was still figuring things out, and didn’t talk much. I always had to be asking her questions to kill the silence. But now we are the best of friends. We talk openly and lovingly to each other. She loves music, and I am very glad that she brought alot of music with her, because my songs got old after 5 months of listening to them. We sing and dance in our room. :) Well we dance in a way that missionaries can dance.... with our arms. :)

This past p day we hiked a little sand dune, and we took alot of photos. It’s so pretty here.
Today, I was reading in the bible about Adam and Eve, our first parents... to be honest I don’t think that I have ever read this part of the bible, because it doesn’t have alot of information.... like its missing parts that the Pearl of Great Price has... and it hit me.... This is one of the reasons that we needed the restoration. The bible, yes it’s the word of God, but with the BofM we learn so much more about Heavenly Father. Yesterday we taught the plan of Salvation to a family, and they didn’t understand how God could kick them out of the garden, if it was part of his plan... This morning it hit me that they were trying to understand the story from the Bible, but I had studied the BofM, so I knew a few more things then they did... I don’t know. I am just very grateful for the restoration. For the opportunity that I have to know that I have a Father in Heaven, that loves me. He is waiting for me to come live with him again. He wants me to do the best I can, here during this part of my life. And it’s because of this, that he gave us all the things we have in this life to know that he lives, to test his words to know for ourselves, and to return to live with him.
Today, for p day we are having a huge zone party for my birthday. We are going to watch a movie... I know it’s big! But as a missionary.. A Disney movie is the best thing on earth! :) I’m just really happy! :)
Life is good. I am learning alot. My companion is amazing and she loves learning and helping me. She knows the things that we have to do, and is helping me find new ways to do things to help our area.
Thank you for everything that you are doing for me. Please pray that I can keep learning this language and that together we can find these chosen people.
I love you all! Thank you for your love and letter! You are all the best! Thank you for everything!!!
Have a great week!
Love,

Hermana Hansen

WEEK 36: Week 1 Of Training

August 24, 2015

This week went by way to fast. Holy Cow! I can’t believe that tomorrow my companion will be heading to Lima and then to her house.... AHAHA!!!! It’s crazy how time flies.
Hermana Sosa: She "died" quickly. And she had a great week. The members really expressed their love for her, and she didn’t cry until the last day. Yesterday she got on the bus to go to Trujillo. It was a scary sight, and I don’t like what the future has in store for me...
I love all the news reports that I am getting from home. Thank you for keeping me in the cool circle! :)   Today is a day of cleaning. I have to get ready for the NEW companion that will come.... and when I say new I mean NEW!!! AHAHA Yesterday I got the call... the call that I literally have been dreaming about for a few days now. Elder Meaker, one of the Assistants to the President, called yesterday afternoon. He called at 5:15... The EXACT time that he called me last to give me the assignment as Sister Leader. But this time... I got another assignment... TRAINER!!!!   Yes. I know... I’m freaking out a little right along with you. AHA!!! All I know is that tomorrow I have a training on how to be a trainer at 2pm. :) AH! I’m a little nervous, but I am also excited. I felt this whole transfer that I would train. I know that the Lord has been preparing me, little by little... :) And I am very grateful for that. BUT!!!! I still don’t feel prepared... I know that I am missing alot of things. So I’m excited to see what come these next 12 weeks together... :) I’m just hoping that my "daughter" or hija (E-HA) in the mission likes me and that we can learn together.
Life is great and I’m excited. The weather is great and I’m getting tan. It’s actually perfect, because its warm enough that I don’t need sun screen, and not cold enough that I am dying in a skirt. :)  So I am happy about that. I think that it is spring time right now in Peru, but I’m not really sure because the weather here is WAY different.
I hope that all is well at home, and that you people are remembering to read the scriptures... READ Alma 25:26. As members we all do these things.. :)
I love you all. I am so excited for all the new nephews that are waiting to meet me when I get home! :) Everyone in the ward has started to tell me that I only have a little time left in my mission. Which is true. Only 5 transfers left which is almost 7 months... :/ AHA!!! March will be here in a blink of an eye. And I’m not sure if I want it to come...
LOVE YOU ALL! Remember that you are a Child of God.
And that I love you.... :) Have a great week and I will hopefully talk to you next week!

Week 37

August 31, 2015

For some of you, last week I forgot to send you the email that said that I am training. :) Surprise!!! My companion is from Holiday, SLC, Utah. She is 19, and she is almost taller than me... ha-ha...
Tuesday: I went to Trujillo to have my training on how to be a trainer. Once that meeting was over, we waited until the new people entered the building to go down the stairs. :) That wait was so LOOONNNGGG!!!! AH! I knew that I was going to get a North American, but it was stressful because the other sisters were freaking out, so I started to freak out a little. I will not lie, I was really nervous. Our names were the last to get called for the sister, so I had some time to look her over and smile at her before our names were called. *The new missionaries sit on one side of the chapel, and the trainers on the other side. One by one they call names, and the new companionship joins together in the middle isle, and give a big hug, smile for a photo, and then sits together. (this is how the meeting is for the new missionaries)* Then after, we took some pictures and then grabbed her bags. We were the only sisters going to Chimbote, and the elders took the bus before us... so we were traveling alone at night... I was praying really hard that nothing bad was going to happen, and that no one was going to do anything bad to us... because we are both North Americans and all. But we got to our room at 10pm, and we got to eat chicken and fries for dinner.
Wednesday: District meeting. My companion didn’t understand a thing that was being said, and looked really confused. It was funny because I remember my first meeting.
Thursday: We did our weekly planning. She took alot of notes and I think she learned alot. That afternoon we had a great lesson, and then Ward council. Ward council was terrible, and I was happy that she couldn’t understand because it was a pointless meeting. I tried really hard not to freak-out, but I usually get really stressed during this meeting, so I had to take a few deep breaths and turn off my ears.
Friday: Friday we taught no one, and we walked alot! We learned that missionary work isn’t just teaching lessons, it’s a lot of looking and finding people. :)
Saturday: Our agenda was full of new people to contact and find. I of course had to do all the talking... which was terrible because I don’t like contacting.... because I never know what to say... and sometimes it’s just nerve racking...
Sunday: She gave her testimony in sacrament meeting; with perfect Spanish... it was a true testament that the gift of tongues is real. We had been praying for this time, that she would know what to say and say it calmly... and it was AMAZING! Also this Sunday we took a less active to church with us... and she told us that she felt amazing taking the Sacrament again. I was happy with our week.
Something that I have started to do every night... thanks to my comp, is write in my journal every night.... She writes everything down... she journals in all of her free time. She said that in the MTC she finish one whole journal... WOW!!! It’s amazing. I enjoy writing my feeling down, and I think that this new little habit that we have will help me during her training.
So far all is well. This week we start really working on her learning the language, so next week I will have alot more to tell you all! Just know that I am happy, and enjoying training! I like being in charge, and finding the way to work with my new companion in the way that the Lord wants...
LOVE YOU ALL!!

Week 35

August 17, 2015

Dear family and friends. I am so glad that I get the opportunity to hear from some of you each week. Thank you for taking the time to write me and tell me how things are going.
Tomorrow I will have my first intercombio, and I will be staying in my area, and a new missionary will be coming for 24 hours to learn and see how things should be done. My companion will go to the other area and see how her trainer is doing with training. I’m really nervous, and I’m not sure how well her Spanish is, so tomorrow will be interesting. :)
This is the last week from my companion. She goes home Tuesday afternoon. This week I get to be on the watch and help her remember that she is still a missionary, and just because she is finishing her mission doesn’t mean that stop working. I think that this week I will need to pack her bags and help her get on the bus, because she doesn’t want to go home...  In the ward, three missionaries are going home this transfer. Every companionship will get a new companion this next week. It’s so sad... But at the same time.... I’m ready for a change. And the ward needs new faces. Just NEW things... :)
This week my Book of Mormon’s spine broke... and I couldn’t carry my book with me for a few days. It was during this time that I saw how important the BofM is in my life. I felt so helpless without my book....  Finally. We found a book store, and we asked what kind of glue I could use to fix it. The store owner happily superglued my book, and didn’t charge me a dime... well a sole, because I’m in Peru. :) I feel normal now, and I never leave without my BofM now. What a blessing we have in our lives to read this book every day. Count your many blessing, people
I think that I might train this next transfer, which would mean that I will get a brand new missionary.... :) I’m scared to train. I don’t feel like my Spanish isn’t as well as I need to train, and I am hoping  that I don’t. But  I am praying that will be prepared for my future. Ill except what the Lord wants me to do, because I know that he will help me.
Life is good. Go to the temple this week. I know your lives will be crazy this week with school and everything starting up again, but remember the important things in this life....
Love you all! Thank you for your prayers. I know that God lives and we are His children.
Love
